Faceted Stones - Repair
and Recutting
Over time, even the most beautifully faceted gemstones
become dull from wear and tear. Whether the stone in question is
an investment-quality Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald, or just an old
Bohemian Garnet, Turet Design
can not only bring it back to life but, in nearly all cases, greatly
improve its overall polish, brilliance and scintillation.
If you haven't seen our work yet, just ask someone who has or, better
yet, send us something to cut or recut for you... you'll be more
than pleased with the results.
Depending upon the nature and degree of the wear and
abrasions on a gem, it may be possible to limit the recutting to
just the crown, alone. However, if the girdle or pavilion (lower
half) of the stone has been damaged, as well, the entire stone may
have to be recut. Until a thorough and careful examination of the
extent of the damage is done, it is impossible to tell whether the
repairs needed will remove a few points or a more substantial weight
loss, but we will advise you before any work begins.
When you entrust one of your (or your customers')
stones to us, we treat it as if it belongs to a member of our own
family, and you'd better believe we like our relatives to look good!
Unlike the 'industry standard' finishes you're used to seeing, which
typically include rounded facet junctions, uneven facets and unbalanced
symmetries, stones cut by us feature mirror-flat 1/4-micron Diamond
polishes and accurately sized and centered facets. You and your
customers will both appreciate the differences the second that you
see them and, just as importantly, so will their friends.
(IMPORTANT: All gems must be removed
from their mountings before you send them to us.)
