Designer's
Choice gems are faceted here in the United States
by Douglas Turet, using one of the finest 1/10th degree accurate
faceting machines available anywhere in the world today, the Ultra
Tec© Facetor*. In addition to properly
centered tables and culets and polished girdles, most Designer's
Choice gems feature the precision of complex,
computer-aided designs, the accuracy of meetpoint faceting and
the kinds of optimally flat finishes accessible only through the
use of ceramic or BATT©
polishing laps and 100,000 mesh (1/4 micron particle size) Diamond
powder polishes.
Standard
Plus gems are also faceted on accurate,
modern machines, feature well- centered tables, and culets, and
are cut to calibrated sizes and standard shapes with , "industry
standard" polishes, but are cut by our partners in Sri Lanka,
rather than here in the U.S. As such, these are ideal for setting
into the ready-made jewelry castings available through most jewelry
suppliers, and represent excellent value for the money!
Each Designer's
Choice gem begins its journey to you as one of
the select rough crystals or crystal sections which come to us
from miners or mine representatives around the world. After arriving
here, each piece is painstakingly examined and re-graded for color,
clarity, size and shape, to determine whether or not they warrant
the investments of time, patience and skill needed to produce
a truly exquisite gem. Those that do qualify are then measured
and compared against a database of more than a thousand possible
faceting designs, several of which have been custom-designed by
us. Once the ideal design has been chosen, it is up to the nbis
the the finest pieces areof them warrant the have been hand-selected
from the larger lots that which is then carefully oriented for
optimum color and clarity and lovingly crafted into
